US Four Flags Forever First Class Postage Stamps

Four stamps, one word each: FREEDOM, LIBERTY, EQUALITY, JUSTICE, set in large type beneath a bright American flag on a white ground. The design does almost nothing else - no landscape, no sky, no ornament - which puts all the weight on the four words and the fact that they are being claimed rather than described.

That directness is why these get used on mail where the message matters: civic organizations, voter registration drives, legal and advocacy correspondence, letters to elected officials, naturalization and citizenship paperwork. They also work as an ordinary house stamp for a business that wants something patriotic without a seasonal or military tone, and the four designs mean a run of envelopes does not look stamped by machine. Booklets of 20, Forever value, so each covers a one-ounce letter at whatever the rate is on the day you use it.
