The 2026 flag stamp is a photograph of a knit flag - a detail from a Polo Ralph Lauren sweater introduced in 1989. Beneath it sit 1776 and 2026 in red for the nation's 250th anniversary. Using a piece of knitwear rather than a flying flag is a real departure for the series: the stars are stitched, the stripes are courses of yarn, and the whole thing reads as an object someone owns rather than a symbol on a pole.
It is available in booklets of 20, panes of 20 and coils of 100, 3,000 and 10,000. Anniversary-year mail is the obvious use - civic committees, historical societies, town and county offices, businesses running semiquincentennial promotions - and the sweater reference gives it a warmth that the graphic flag issues do not have. I asked for this order to be delivered to an address (where I physically was in Rapid City). You ABSOLUTELY and COMPLETELY overrode that! And, caused me a lot of SERIOUS stress! I hope ‘the package’ is there when I get there in approximately 3 weeks! A response please!??! Since it’s probably already been stolen…how about sending me a ‘new’ order of same.
