Cartoonist Charles Schulz "Peanuts" Forever Postage Stamps

Issued for the centennial of Charles M. Schulz's birth, this set puts Peanuts back on U.S. mail - not for the first time. Snoopy appeared as the World War I Flying Ace in 2001, and in 2015 the Postal Service marked fifty years of A Charlie Brown Christmas. Schulz drew the strip himself, every panel, for fifty years, which is part of why the line still reads as one hand rather than a studio.

Peanuts occupies odd territory: written for adults, read by children, and understood differently by each. That makes these unusually flexible on an envelope - birthday cards, letters to grandchildren, sympathy notes where something gentle is needed, office mail that would otherwise be a flag. They sell hardest in November and December because of the Christmas special, but nothing on the stamps is seasonal. Sheets of 20, and they move fastest in December even though nothing printed on them is seasonal.
