Sunflower Bouquet Two Ounce Forever First Class Postage Stamps

A loose bouquet of orange sunflowers with smaller purple and pink blooms, set against a white ground. There is nothing conceptual going on here - it is a straightforward, cheerful stamp, and the reason to know about it is not the picture but the denomination printed on it.

This is a two-ounce stamp. It is always worth what a two-ounce first-class letter costs, and it exists for the mail that people habitually underpay: heavy invitations for birthdays, weddings and anniversaries, oversize greeting cards, and small flat gifts in a padded envelope. A card that feels normal in the hand crosses an ounce more often than you would think, and the result is either a returned envelope or a postage-due note at the other end. Two Forever stamps would cover the weight, but they cost more and take up both corners. Sheets of 20 for anyone working through an invitation list, and sunflowers carry a summer or autumn wedding better than roses do.
